Every year Gangotri temple opening dates based on the auspicious day of Akshay Tritya, which is on 10th May 2024. The temple closes on the sacred occasion of Bhai Dooj, the temple closes for winter and usually reopens in April-May.

No, there is generally no need for extensive walking or trekking in Gangotri to reach the temple. Gangotri Temple is well-connected to roadways, allowing visitors to access it without the requirement of a trek.
