Haridwar, a timeless city on the banks of the holy Ganges, is a confluence of spirituality, culture, and nature. A journey here promises more than just sightseeing – it’s an immersion into the sacred, the serene, and the spectacular. This ancient city, mentioned in the scriptures as Mayapuri, is a crucial pilgrimage for Hindus and a haven for travelers seeking tranquility and natural beauty.
Haridwar is one of the seven holiest places (Sapta Puri) in Hinduism. Its historical roots trace back to the ancient scriptures. Known as the gateway to the gods, it is said that drops of Amrit (elixir of immortality) spilled over from the pitcher during the celestial war between the Devas and Asuras (gods and demons), and these drops fell at four locations: Haridwar, Ujjain, Nashik, and Prayagraj. This event is commemorated every twelve years by the grand Kumbh Mela, attracting millions of pilgrims.
